Matt Robinson was born Aug 24, 1980 in Baltimore Maryland. As a child, he was extremely active in sports, playing soccer, baseball, ice hockey, and lacrosse year round. After entering high school, he pulled back from his love of competitive sports and started focusing more on music composition and other visual arts. After being given his Grandfathers camera set up, he took on a strong interest in photography. Only weeks into his Introduction to Photography class, his photography teacher noted a high level of talent and vision, and allowed hit to persue projects outside of what was required for the class. With the open assignments, and direct attention from his instructor he was able to rapidly learn basic and advanced photography techniques.
While attending College at West Virginia University, he worked part time for the school news paper, covering smaller sports games and live events. During this time, a female living in his dorm asked him to take some pictures for her. After a simple photoshoot, she submitted them to an agency. With the agency loving the photographs, they in turn asked Matt to do some portfolio work for some other girls.
After his first year at West Virginia, he then transferred back to University of Maryland. Here he began working with several other agencies in the Baltimore/Washington/Phillidelphia area. This allowed him to further hone his craft and begin developing relations with other clients and designers. He began working with a photographer in New York City as an assistant. After only a few shoots with him, Matt saw his first published images appear in Harpers Bazaar. Right about this time, he also received an offer to shoot a swimwear catalog in Mexico.
As business started to grow, he found himself traveling to Florida, Mexico, and the Carribean frequently. So in 2003, he packed his bags and relocated to Fort Myers, FL.
Since moving to Florida, he has grown tremendously, having photographed nearly 500 different models, all while having images appear in publications such as Stuff's Little Black Book, FHM, Makes and Models, TapouT Magazine, Fight Magazine, TeaseUm Bikini's Calendars, Teeze Magazine, Southern Peach Magazine, as well as shooting content for catalogs and advertisements for various designers across the world.
